Virus of the Year – Ebola
Ebola has now replaced the Bird Flu is the new boogie man. This boogieman is attacking and scaring Africa rather than Asia. This deadly virus has to date taken the lives of 800 Africans. It has caused the President of Liberia to declare a State of Emergency in Liberia for 90 days.
Airlines are canceling flights. Borders are being closed. Today the US Embassy has asked all non essential diplomats to leave the country.
In Liberia, the hospital system has been pushed to the breaking point.
There is much debate including:
The Health Care system in Africa – in short it is deplorable.
- People are afraid to go to hospitals for fear of getting the virus while in the hospital
Education – lack of
Nigerian celebrity, Jim Iyke departing from Roberts International Airport, Monrovia wearing a mask – perhaps he thinks Ebola is airborne like the bird flu? I am curious to learn what was he doing in Liberia?
