Michelle Elie

You have to have passion. That is what keeps you going. Without passion you really don’t exist.

In life they say, it does not matter how you start it is how you finish.

I was once friends with Michelle Elie when we both lived in Miami. I know the apartment she speaks of in this interview and remember the minimalism and lack of furniture. She speaks to to not having money at the time but her apartment did not reflect her finances. From my recollection it reflected her incredible sense of style. Her style was faultless.

She has always had style. It was clear then as it is clear now. Back then it was the first time I had seen an apartment with all white floors of which she had painted. I have always wanted to one day have a place where I would paint the entire place white including the wood floors.

I remember thinking wow! How brave is she painting her floors as this was only a rental. What was she going to do when she moved? What would she say to the landlord who would most certainly take her security deposit.

I lost touch with Michelle and it was only today as I was reading Vogue.com that I came across her again.  Vogue had posted a story about “This Week’s Fashionable Instagram  Photo’s” and one of hers was on the list. I always wondered what became of her, now I know.
